Through our Nana Abantwana programme, we strive to improve upon early childhood development services at village level by mobilizing and strengthening existing centres and community structures.
Our programme supports 102 ECD centres in Tsholomnqa, Mooiplaas, Dimbaza and Newlands rural communities in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Centred on providing appropriate cognitive stimulation, nutrition, care and health services for pre-school children, we work with a number of initiatives that include:
-
training, support and mentorship of ECD practitioners
-
building upon toy and book libraries within each centre
-
coordinating donations of goods and furniture
-
raising awareness and advocating the provision of quality ECD services in each village (Community of Practice)
